“REASSURING STABILITY”

A Message from Rick Mosher,

It seems things are always changing.  For instance, on phones Facebook recently put the row that includes the home symbol, the friends symbol, the notifications symbol, and a couple of others at the bottom of the screen instead of the top where it had been for as long as I have had a smart phone.  Most people I have seen comment don’t like it.  In another change, the PHELPS COUNTY FOCUS, a weekly paper to which I subscribe, has in recent months, cut part of its staff and cut the number of pages in about half….while charging just as much.  On a more positive note, June 1 marks the name change of Central Christian College of the Bible, a college our congregation supports, to Central Bible University to reflect the expansion of the institution into other parts of the country as well as its Master’s Degree program and other factors.

Some change is good. Some is bad.  Some people like change more than others do.  Some people like very little change at all.  However, when things in life change too much and too rapidly, it tends to leave many of us feeling unsettled.

Against that backdrop of change, it’s reassuring to know something that never changes.  Perhaps I should say SOMEONE who never changes.  Hebrews 13.8 proclaims, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” That’s reassuring in a turbulent and ever-changing world. Jesus is the same Son of God, the same Savior who died on the cross and rose again.  He said of Himself in Revelation 1.17b-18a, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever.”  Jesus even continues to carry out His same activity on our behalf (if we are saved) that He’s done ever since He returned to heaven.  Hebrews 7.25 tells us of Jesus, “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”

Amid this changing world, I am delighted and reassured to have this unchanging Lord and Savior.  Be sure you have Him, too.  Christians, hold firmly to Him always.

If you are reading this and you don’t have Jesus as Lord and Savior, won’t you put your faith in Him, obey the Gospel in faith, repentance, confession of faith, and immersion into Him?  You can find scripture references that give more information about making Jesus your Lord and Savior by clicking on our Path to Salvation page on this web site.
